MCA is dedicated to providing a wide range of opportunities for training, professional development, and technical assistance to our members.  We work collaboratively with the Bureau of Community Action and Economic Opportunity (BCAEO) within Michigan to design and deliver training needed to help our members meet Organizational Standards and to continually build their capacity. On the regional level, MCA works with the other states in our Regional Performance Innovation Consortia (RPIC) for Region V and the Mid America Community Action Association (MACAA).  Nationally, we promote training and secure training services from the Community Action Partnership, CAPLAW, the National Community Action Foundation and others to bring expertise and best practices to our members.

Results Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA) is a hallmark of Community Action.  Understanding the ROMA cycle and infusing ROMA into all aspects of work is critical to being a high performing CAA.  In coordination with BCAEO, MCA offers quarterly virtual Introduction to ROMA trainings and can facilitate agency-wide trainings. To request agency-wide training please complete the ROMA training request form.

Leadership Development Programming

Emerging Leaders Development Program – This program aims to provide participants with a solid base of knowledge across several domains to cultivate the capacity of the next generation of Community Action Leaders as they start their leadership journey.

Leadership Development Institute (LDI) - This comprehensive training program prepares managers and key CAA staff to expand their skills in management, communications, human resources, strategic planning, advocacy and leadership.  The cohort for 2024/25 registration is open, see more about that here

Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) - This certification is designed for current and emerging managers or leaders in the Community Action Profession and is administered by the CCAP Commission. MCA supports members with seeking a CCAP credential by assisting with the enrollment process and connecting participants to national and regional study groups.

If you have a request for a training you can fill out this form and we will reach out to you at our earliest convenience.
